Warehouse Receiver
Location: Plum Boro, PA
Primary Function:
Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Receiver is responsible for the prompt and careful handling of materials to be received and stocked.
Specific Duties:
CHECK INCOMING MERCHANDISE AGAINST PURCHASE ORDERS TO SPOT SHORTAGES, DAMAGES, BACKORDERS, ETC.:
- Shortages, damages, etc. should be reported at once to buyer.
- Always take time to check the number of cartons in any shipment before signing bill.
- Check all cartons for damage before signing bill.
- Keep check-in area neat and orderly at all times.
- Use every safety precaution in and around the check-in area.
PROVIDE STORAGE AREA FOR LAYAWAYS AND SPECIAL ORDERS:
- Each special order should be tagged.
- Store items with care to prevent damage.
- When required, call customer to insure merchandise is picked up in a timely manner.
MAINTAIN MAXIMUM SECURITY IN WAREHOUSE:
- Never leave receiving area open and unattended.
- If you must leave the receiving area, see that it is securely locked.
- Keep unauthorized individuals out of these areas.
- Never open cartons in storage or check-in area unless necessary.
KEEP WAREHOUSE AND STORAGE AREA NEAT, CLEAN AND ORDERLY:
- Keep all merchandise in its assigned location.
- See that aisle are kept open at all times.
- Follow safety and OSHA rules when storing merchandise.
- Avoid opening cartons in storage areas as much as possible.
- Never let other things block the shipping area.
UNLOAD INCOMING TRUCKS:
- Take every safety precaution when handling freight.
- Use materials handling equipment to avoid unnecessary strain or handling.
- Keep unloading area clear of unnecessary items.
- Watch for shortages and damages.
- Don’t try to handle heavy cartons alone.
- Watch for and eliminate any causes for injury or losses.
HELP DISPOSE OF DAMAGED GOODS:
- Help lower losses from damaged goods by careful handling and storage which tends to reduce damage.
- Try to repair damaged goods when assigned.
- Properly handle returning goods to vendors.
WHEN NECESSARY, FILL CUSTOMER ORDERS IN A PROMPT, COURTEOUS MANNER.
DO ODD JOBS AND RUN ERRANDS:
- If assigned to assemble furniture or displays, work only in assigned location.
- Never take new tools or materials out of stock for use until approved by supervisor and that they are checked off permanently for that purpose.
- Handle heavy and bulky merchandise for customers and sales personnel.
- Assist in store with moving or stocking merchandise when requested by supervisor.
